I have been wanting to get a great HD Flat Screen TV for a looooong time now, and have just been waiting for the prices to drop to some range I could pay for. When I saw this specific TCL 40-Inch, I knew which my time had occur at last.

It is a great first-time TV. I set it up within minutes right out of the box. Very easy, zero muss, no fuss. I did so have to buy a separate HDMI cable in order to turn it on to my Dvd and blu-ray player, but which was also cheap and straightforward. Plug and Play.

The image looks amazing. It is such a great improvement over our analog TV which it was like observing new movies. I can’t have a Blu Ray participant, but my Digital video disc player has an upscaling function that lets me use the full 1080p capacity of the screen. One problem I have had with the picture is the Backlight Sensor, which senses the light space and adjusts the image accordingly. I found this kind of always left the photo too dark, so I transformed it off and do the manual environment.

Aside from the Backlight Sensor, the tv screen doesn’t have a lot of functions. This is a bare-bones machine. In fact, my old analogue TV could perform more interesting issues (like picture-in-picture), but to tell the truth I barely employed those. There are a couple of different monitor settings, and you can zoom a photo if you want, but again, besides playing with that feature for awhile I by no means touched it once again.

I am not sure if it is L32HDF11TA the tv screen or my Digital video disc player, but a few of my old pre-widescreen DVDs, specifically my old Disney and Popeye cartoons, get automatically “widescreened” to adjust to the screen. It is a bummer because it is essentially pan-and-scan meaning I lose many of the image. I have checked, but haven’t identified anyway to set the particular aspect ratio so it gives me a sq picture.

Overall, I am thrilled with the TCL 40-Inch. I had some worries regarding not getting a recognized brand name, but I experienced this TV for a number of months with no troubles at all. I would contentedly buy a TCL TV once again.

I labored over online TV reviews for over a year, doing the research needed to make sure I was happy with my purchase. *My reviewer of choice is cnet* I had originally been leaning towards a LED LCD, since they supposedly had better bright room performance. I saw that the 7000 & 8000 had special filters to reduce reflections, and my interest was piqued.

I finally got the green light from my wife to make the purchase for my birthday (back in June)and immediately started looking at the reviews of the latest models. The Panasonic TC-PVT30 series and the Vizio XVT3SV series were both highly reviewed and I had been looking at those for awhile. The PN59D8000 review came out shortly after I started looking, and they mentioned that the high marks on the quality of that model would also apply to the PN59D7000. I decided this would be the best of both worlds: the higher quality of plasma with the increased brightroom performance. The price was right in the middle of both as well.
I decided to purchase on Amazon without viewing the TV in the store since I’ve always heard that the calibration is very different, PN64D7000 and store performance is not a good indicator of in-home performance. *There is a store setting, during setup.

The glare is noticable while the TV is off, but goes away for the most part once you turn it on. I did have an issue when my wife wanted to re-arrange the living room to where our 3 large living room windows were directly across from the TV instead of to the side. At that point, the glare was VERY bad during the day, even with the blinds closed. We ended up using it as an excuse to finally get curtains and the problem was solved. The remaining light was easily taken care of by the TV’s filter.

I fully calibrated the TV to the 8000 settings originally & the TV color looked a little off (7000 calibration wasn’t out yet). After digging a little more, I read a suggestion to wait to calibrate until the TV had broken in. I returned it to the default setings and waited a month. By then, the 7000 calibrations were out and cnet had reviewed the 7000 claiming it was the best value available. I had liked the default settings, but could tell they weren’t perfect. Once I used the cnet calibration, the TV was exactly on the money.

I first purchased this Television set because of a couple of capabilities. One it had been 55″ and two it was 240hz scanning and LED lit. After I been with them delivered and hang up (read the other testimonials to see how you can set it up) We noticed that the idea had the net apps and also 3d features. I purchased the particular Toshiba Three dimensional Blu ray Digital video disc player and I have to state that I was impressed by the picture top quality. The TV can be so good I am now taking into consideration switching through uverse to another wire service provider. 1. Your 3d picture is excellent as well as the 2d-3d converted images. You feed as if you are right there.

4. The television prompted my to complete a firmware upgrade. This warned me not to touch the TV before the upgrade is finished. My spouse and i accepted and the improvement bar showed for a couple of seconds then it faded. The TV was not answering commands! I was not positive that that is normal and I was scared to turn it off as it may harm the TV. So I presented it 15 minutes i then pulled the power power cord off. When I restore it on, it had taken like a minute for you to restart and it appeared as if the firmware was not changed. So I restarted the task and this time it finished and it restarted by itself but the firmware version was still not changed. The third time was the actual charm and Toshiba 42TL515U the firmware was upgraded. This is a little bit bit scary. Let’s suppose it happens 2 years in the future when the TV no longer has enough warranty. I think the firmware upgrades should simply be when absolutely necessary.
5. The warning communication when you display Animations pictures is quite bothersome.
6. Sound is ok. Not too horrible because other reviews have got mentioned but fine for a bedroom.
Several. The TV itself seems to be nice and would match any decor. I like the clean collections and the hidden loudspeakers. The finish is dim hairline black. Less than gray as the images7 might show.
8. The price is great but it is worth paying of the extra money to get the 3d features.
9. Inactive 3d is perfect for this specific application.

One of the concerns I’ve read is actually viewing angle, to me though, the display is so large it really is hard not to attend a good angle even during a 15′ – 20′ space.
